Do you know what the V in V-day stands for?

Valentine�s for one, yes, but it also stands for Vagina and Victory. Coincidentally, it�s celebrated on the same day as that commercialized, Hallmark-endorsed day. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Click here to know more.


Anyway, I attended a meeting for the V-day chapter on campus. There were about twenty of us, all girls. We introduced ourselves with monikers to make remembering the names easier.



A few interesting ones were �Nudie�, �Drunkie� and �GhettoBooty�.
Yours truly introduced herself as �Desirable� Idaman. The girls loved the fact that my name translates to �desire� in Malay/Indonesian. lalala~


Getting to socialize with this group of gregarious, gorgeous girls is going to be blast. It�s going to be a pretty interesting year.


I managed to catch the last twenty minutes of a hip-hop/jazz orchestra performance at the Quad. One guy did a sax solo with a Coltrane piece. Another guy played the violin until it wept like a guitar, and he almost made me weep � it was so touching.
The fusion of jazz and hip hop seemed weird to me at first, but daymmn, it sounded excellent. It felt pretty good to sit on the grass on a cool evening listening to hip-hop-ish jazz.

Vaginas and hip hop make a pretty great day.
