According to my anthropology professor, male dominance in societies all over the world emerged relatively recently and gradually. Reasons cited for the emergence of a male dominated society are

1) the domestication of large animals, and

2) in relation to the domestication, the emergence of large scale warfare and military organization.

Now, at first glance that doesn�t sound too convincing. Read on.
Anthropologically, domestication of animals first happened in desert-like areas, namely the Middle East. Before domestication was an option, women were the major gatherers of food; they gathered wild oats and other plants that make up the bulk of food. Men hunted, but the meat from the hunt was minimal, and made up only a small percentage of the food.

Guess who was the most important person in the family then?

After men found out how to domesticate animals (e.g sheep, camels, horses), everything changed. Meat became abundant, and is now THE major source of food (since plants don�t really grow well in the desert). Animals became symbols of wealth. The more you have, the bigger a man you are. Raiding and stealing animals became widespread. Women, being physically smaller, couldn�t really play a role in this violent, military action. Men became all important; boys were more valued than girls.

Women were no longer breadwinners; they were relegated to the secondary role of butcher, cook and baby-producer. Imagine the devastating effect this had on women�s liberation. Sex became reproduction-focused, since children were needed to tend to the flocks. Patriarchal values ensued. Female infanticide rates go sky high.

Obsessiveness over female virginity and possessiveness over female sexuality is rampant.

Damn it.

The religions of the Book � Judaism, Christianity, Islam � along with the idea of god as a male entity emerges from the deserts, are embraced by 70% of the world, crippling women�s freedom worldwide.

So here we are.

Women all over the world are subjugated because a couple of sheep were dumb enough to let themselves be herded by men.

Damn those kambings!!
